Colonel Akhilesh Kumar Pandey is a Post Graduate in History from Patna University, Patna. He belongs to 1995 Batch of Indian Postal Service. He has wide experience of 25 years in serving Department of Posts, Government of India in various capacities. He worked as Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Bhopal Division and Vigilance Officer for Madhya Pradesh Postal Circle. He worked as Assistant Director General (Public Grievances), Department of Posts. He has also worked in Army Postal Service of Indian Army and worked in J&K and North East. He has commanded 2 CBPO popularly known as 99 APO as Colonel.

Presently, he is holding the post of Deputy Director General (Philately) in Department of Posts w.e.f. 15 June 2021. Before joining as DDG (Philately), he was Postmaster General (Postal Operations), Delhi Circle and played a key role in rationalising/optimizing Postal Network in NCT of Delhi to exceed the expectations of the public and setting up of Nodal Delivery Centres (NDC) for delivery of parcels.
He is end-user representative from Department of Posts on the Board of Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) w.e.f. 20th July, 2021.
